Mitigation Introduction Text
Environmental mitigation means an action or activity intended to remedy, reduce, or offset known negative impacts to the environment. There are 3 different types of mitigation according to Section 404 of the Clean Waters Act.

- U.S. Energy Information Administration: EnvironmentEIA is the statistical and analytical agency within the U.S. Department of Energy, providing data, analysis, and projections.
- Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP)ESMAP is a World Bank-led partnership that supports environmentally sustainable energy solutions and development projects in low- and middle-income countries. On this website, find mitigation-relevant publications, multimedia content, data, and case studies.
- World Resources InstitutesThe climate change and energy site provides information and discussion on policies for the prevention of climate change.
- Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC)A resource of the U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities program and administered by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, AFDC is a clearinghouse of information, data, and tools related to the deployment of alternative fuels and advanced vehicles, in support of efforts to reduce petroleum use in transportation.
