HoyaSearch Tutorial

This guide is designed to help you get the most out of using HoyaSearch.

Requesting Materials

When you use HoyaSearch, the library recommends that you sign in. Signing in enables you to see all available resources fully and to have access to requesting options.

Once you have logged in, there are three options to request items:

1. Requesting a Georgetown item

When a physical item you need is available from Georgetown’s collections, you can place a Georgetown Request to have the book pulled for you. Please use this option only when you are unable to retrieve the item in person.

2. Requesting a Consortium item

When Georgetown does not own a copy or our copy is currently unavailable, you may request a Consortium copy by clicking Consortium Request. Please make sure to check if other libraries are listed under Consortium Libraries before you submit your request.

3. Requesting from Interlibrary Loan

When neither Georgetown nor the Consortium has an available copy, you may place an Interlibrary Loan request to get a copy from outside of the DC area.

When you click Interlibrary Loan Request option, you will be asked to sign into your Interlibrary Loan account, using your NetID and password. Please remember that your Interlibrary Loan account is separate from your HoyaSearch account.

Once the item you’ve requested is available at the Circulation Desk for check out, you will receive an email notification at your Georgetown email account. If you need further assistance requesting items, please reach out to the library for help.
