Associations and Organizations
There are many environmental science related associations and organizations in the world. It would be impossible to list them all here. The associations and organizations listed below are just a small sampling of what is available.
- European Environmental AgencyLike the U.S. EPA, the EEA is the official environmental agency of the European Union. The web site provides documents, news, links to other sites and more.
- United States Environmental Protection AgencyInformation about Agency history, mission, projects, laws and regulations, budget, publications, news, and more.
- World Bank: EnvironmentInformation on the Bank's work on pollution management. "Emphasizes integrated environmental management, rather than just pollution control -- using a broad mix of incentives and pressures to achieve sustainable environmental improvements."
- Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)Scientific body that reviews and assesses the most recent scientific, technical and socioeconomic information worldwide relevant to understanding climate change. Established in 1988 by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the IPCC aims to “provide the world with a clear scientific view on the current state of knowledge in climate change and its potential environmental and socio-economic impacts.” Publishes Assessment Reports of the state of knowledge on climate change.
- National Association of Environmental ProfessionalsAssociation for professionals dedicated to the advancement of environmental professions. NAEP acts as a resource for career development.
- The Wildlife SocietyThe Wildlife Society aims to "inspire, empower, and enable wildlife professionals" by offering networking, learning opportunities, professional and career development.
