Digitize VHS footage with QuickTime
*Please note: For VHS video transfer, the video signal flows through the following path: VCR > Mini DV/DVCAM Deck > Computer. Therefore the Mini DV/DVCAM Deck must be turned on and INPUT SELECT set to Video to ensure video transfer.
- Make sure the Mini DV/DVCAM Deck is turned on and INPUT SELECT set to Video.
- Open QuickTime Player located in your Applications folder. To begin creating a new recording go to File > New Movie Recording.
- Now make sure the Camera and Microphone setting in QuickTime is set to HDV-VCR.
- Place tape in VCR, cue footage, then press play. Your content will show in the preview window in QuickTime. Hit the red record button to begin capturing footage into the computer.
- Press the stop button in QuickTime to save your content.
