Google Verbatim Search

Use "Verbatim Search" to search exactly what you wrote. 

It turns off personal results, spelling suggestions, and other automatic Google changes.  


Google Advanced Search

Go to Settings to get to "Advanced Search."

 

Use "quotes" in a basic search or the advanced search box in the below image to keep all of the terms together. 

Note: This is a good trick for searching for names, books or article titles! 

 

Use the term OR in your basic search or the advanced search box in the image below to search for websites with either term or phrase.

 

Use the - sign in the basic search or the advanced search box in the image below to search for websites without a term or phrase.

Use "site:" in basic search or the advanced search box in the image below to search sites or domains. 

Note: This is particularly useful if you want to search all government websites (site:.gov), educational sites (site:.edu) or think tanks and other organizations (site:.org)! Or only websites in a specific country (site:.ru for Russia, for example).
