At its simplest, a digital story is an edited project that contains still images and audio, perhaps sprinkled with some video. Almost all digital stories fall into one of three categories:
1. Non-Fiction/Educational
Most digital stories fall into this category. A digital story might present research/information on a specific topic, depict a personal tale, or tell a true/historical story.
2. Narrative
A narrative digital story is scripted, might feature professional vocal talent, and can tell a linear or non-linear story. It is similar to a movie project, but with little or no video.
3. Experimental
An experimental digital story may not have a clear message or purpose. It might try to represent an abstract idea or emotion. It likely features a non-linear structure and the relationship between images and audio may not be immediately clear.
