Sharing Google Drive content with an Android, iPhone or iPad

Step 1: Find the file you want to share

Choose how you want to share a file:
  1. On your Android device, iPhone or iPad, open the app for Google Drive.
  2. Next to the file’s name, tap More More.
  3. Tap Share.

 

Step 2: Choose who to share with & how they can use your file

*Specific People
  1. Under "Share with people," enter the email address you want to share with.
    • Important: If you share with an email address that isn’t a Google Account, they’ll only be able to view the file.
  2. To decide what people can do with your file when you share it, at the bottom, tap the Down arrow Down.
  3. If you don’t want to send an email to people, tap Advanced and uncheck the Notify people box. If you notify people, each email address you enter will be included in the email.
  4. Tap Done.
*Anyone with a link to the file
You can send other people a link to your file so anyone with the link can use it. When you share a link to a file, your name will be visible as the owner of the file.
  1. Open the file you want to share.
  2. Tap Share or Share Share.
  3. Under “Get Link," on the right, tap the Down arrow Down.
  4. Choose who to share the file with.
  5. To decide what people can do with your file when you share it, select an option.
  6. Tap Copy and then Done.
  7. Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
*Share a file or folder publicly
  1. Select the file you want to share.
  2. Tap Share or Share Share.
  3. Under “Get Link,” tap Link settings .
  4.  Select Public link and then Save.
  5. Tap Done.
  6. Copy and paste the link in an email or any place you want to share it.
