Checking out Books & Materials from the Library

Many Physical Materials ~ Books, DVDs, etc. ~  can be Checked Out from the Georgetown Libraries: Lauinger, Blommer, & the Bioethics Library

How you check out materials depends in part on how you discover them.

In the Library - When you find a physical item in the library, on the shelves or on an open display, you just bring the item to the circulation desk on the 3rd floor, present your Go Card, and check it out.  They will tell you when it is due, and it can be renewed online.

In Hoya Search- When you find an item you want to check out online via the library's catalog - Hoya search -you can follow these steps:

  1. Sign into Hoya Search - there is always a sign in option in the upper right
  2. Check to make sure the item is listed as available
  3. Look for the "Georgetown Request" option and click on it
  4. Choose the library where you want to pick it up Lauinger, Blommer, or Capitol Campus
  5. Submit!

You will then get an email when it is ready for you to pick up.  Note on Equipment Checkout - please follow the instructions to reserve equipment on the Library's Equipment Page
