Keyword Search for a Topic
At the Results Screen - Look at the different categories "Topic & Work Overviews" & "Primary Sources & Literary Works" are often the most useful for Topics like types of YA Literature or Critical approaches
Browse Topics
Then scroll down to the section on Children's Literature - and look at some of the topics that may look relevant to you:
Browse Authors
Browse Literature Collections
Then
Then scroll down to the Reference Works
Search for a Key Term in the Reference Works Section
Then Search for a key term selecting the "Reference Works" Tab
Choose one of the Reference Works listed in this Course Guide
Ex: Click on the Title of the one you want
This takes you to the listing in the catalog - Look for "View Online" - and then click on the link
Searching for Books in HoyaSearch - You can use this to find book chapters in collections as well as whole books.
Looking for Authors as Subjects
1. Click on the Advanced Search option - From the Library Home Page
2. Select the parameters listed here - and type in your Author

Use the MLA International Bibliography to Find Articles that take a Specific Critical Approach to a Work or Author
1. Type MLA in the Home Searchbox and select "Databases"
2. Choose the MLA International Bibliography from the list
3. Enter the author of the work you want criticism on in the top box, and choose the field Primary Subject Author
Use MLA to search for a Specific Critical Theory applied to a Specific Work
- Type in the title of the work - Note if it is a one word title you may want to add an author name as well as above.
- In a separate box: Add 1 -2 words naming / describing the theoretical approach - if you use multiple OR together. Leave the field as "All fields"
