The George C. McGhee Library is a collection of more than 1,700 volumes dating from the late sixteenth to the twentieth century and devoted to the history, language, and culture of the Turkish people and of the Ottoman Empire. The collection is distinguished by a number of important eighteenth and nineteenth century illustrated works, including Melling's "Voyage de Constantinople" (Paris, 1819). A printed guide to the collection, "George C. McGhee Library: A Catalogue of Books on Asia Minor and the Turkish Ottoman Empire," edited by Joseph E. Jeffs, was published in 1985.
