Using EndNote

Click here for instructions on accessing EndNote at Georgetown through Web of Science and Basic Tips on using it for citation management.

Description

EndNote is a citation manager product from Clairvate, similar to RefWorks or Zotero.

Caveat: The version of EndNote that Georgetown provides is through Clairvate's Web of Science Database and it is not identical to the premium stand alone version of EndNote that individuals can purchase.

EndNote allows you to save citations, create folders for different projects, add your own tags to citations, and attach PDFs to citations.

Once you have an EndNote Database, you can then access all your citations and PDFs from the Cloud.

For instructions click the "Accessing EndNote" tab in the left column

When to Choose EndNote as your Citation Manager

When choosing a citation manager your first question should be - Who do I want to be able to share these citations with most easily?

  • Is it individual work for a class?  If so, does the Professor recommend a citation manger?
  • Are you working in a Group or with Colleagues? Are they already using a citation manager?

It is best to use the Citation Manager that your Professor, Mentor, Research Group Leader or other Group members are using.

I would only recommend using EndNote if it has already been chosen by those you are working with.
