Audio and Podcasting Projects

Exporting and Sharing

If you simply want to create a file from your audio project and share it via email, your Google Drive or Box account, you will need to export it through the audio application you are using.

Exporting through GarageBand:

  1. Navigate to the "Share" drop down at the top of the page.
  2. Click on "Export Song to Disk".
  3. Choose your quality option and file type.
  4. Export.

Exporting through Audacity

  1. Navigate to "File" at the top of the page.
  2. Click on "Export Audio".
  3. Choose your quality option and file type.
  4. Click "Save".

Sharing Via YouTube

Sharing audio files via YouTube currently requires an extra step once you have completed your audio project. YouTube requires a video or image to stand as the placeholder throughout your audio file. You will need to pull your audio into a video editing program, like Apple's iMovie and set the background image to run throughout the duration of your audio project. Example: if you had an audio file that ran 2:36, you bring in your image file into iMovie or video editing application and extend the background image to the length of the audio file. Once you export this file, you can upload it to YouTube through your account.

Upload videos in YouTube Studio
  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.

  2. In the top right-hand corner, click CREATE  and then Upload video.

  3. Select the file you’d like to upload.

Note: You can upload up to 15 videos at a time. Be sure to click Edit  on each file to edit your video details.

If you close the upload experience before you finish choosing your settings, your video will be saved as a draft on your Videos page.

Sharing Via Soundcloud

Create a free account with Soundcloud and upload your audio projects or podcasts. Make your audio projects or podcasts private or public. Once you export you audio project, you can create playlists and embed them in Canvas or on other websites. (Note: Currently, for a free user, you can upload a total of 180 minutes, 3 hours.) Upload information can be found through the help section of Soundcloud.

Soundcloud and GarageBand:

Once you have an active Soundcloud account you can export from GarageBand directly to Soundcloud. Similar to "Exporting Song to Disk", navigate to "Share" and select "Song to Soundcloud". You will log in and follow the instructions to export to Soundcloud
