This guide is intended as a starting point for finding research materials relating to the impact of the Civil War on what was then Georgetown College.

University Archives Reference Files

The University Archives maintains reference files on a variety of subjects related to Georgetown University history. These files contain photocopies of newspaper and magazine articles, brochures, and other documents found in the archives collection. They are intended to provide a starting point for research rather than to offer exhaustive coverage of any subject. Information on subjects related to Civil War can be found in the following reference files:

  • Georgetown and the Civil War
  • Individual reference files on significant students, faculty and administrators, filed alphabetically by last name

All reference files are available for use in the Booth Family Center for Special Collections on the 5th floor of Lauinger Library; request them via the Aeon request system
