Tutorial

Each student is required to research and submit a written report or tutorial on a current issue in international business.  The report should consist of a statement of issue, as well as an explanation and analysis of its impact on the international manager.  The instructor must approve the topic and students are encouraged to discuss topic selection and tutorial structure regularly with the instructor during office hours. Each student is to select a topic by September 29, 2011 and hand in a typed report on the presentation not to exceed five (5) pages by November 3, 2011. At that time, each student will schedule a presentation of the tutorial with the instructor in a PowerPoint format not to exceed (7) pages.  The tutorial presentation will be 10 – 15 minutes in length during which issues pertaining to the student's report are discussed in more detail.  Each student will also serve as a discussant in a tutorial for another student.  The source of the issue could be the daily press, business publications, web pages, trade associations, the U.S. Congress or offices of the Executive branch, etc.  The tutorial is not to be a literature review, but a briefing based on primary data/opinion collected by the student.  Detailed guidelines are provided in Appendix A in syllabus.

The following absolute deadlines will be observed for the tutorial:
a) General topic area approved for the tutorial......September 29, 2011
b) Two copies of tutorial report due ................November 3, 2011
c) Completion of tutorial/discussantship............December 3, 2011
